Because we can!!!

Tiramisu and Wallaby Stew : Mine and Lydia's joint blog.

If you want to hear from me, go read that every so often. 'll probably never update this LJ again, but we'll see.

April 8th, 2008

I think that I should start updating this with the same things I post on my myspace blog. I have so much to say but no time, no energy to post anything about my life or my thoughts in two different places. Mostly I just post lyrics to songs I am writing these days anyway. Or I rant.

But after Seussical The Musical is done (more about that in a moment), I shall definitely try to update more often, at least once every few weeks.

Seussical. I love this show. We open on Thursday, so this week is going to be exhausting. I have two roles (double-cast with Britney) and so have twice the amount of work as usual. Most of the leads are double cast. I myself am the leading lady, Gertrude McFuzz, and on the nights that Britney does the role, I am a showy, silly Bird Girl, and vice versa. It has been amazing. Gertrude... well, she's a character that just reaches out and tugs at my soul. She's nervous and vain and has low self esteem because she only has a one feather tail and wants Horton the Elephant to pay attention to her. But even after she goes to the doctor and grows a bigger tail, he is still too wrapped up in finding his clover (with the Whos on it, you know) to notice (Notice Me, Horton.) When Horton is captured by hunters and sold to the circus, Gertrude goes to great lengths to rescue him. Because her tail has grown to the point where she can't fly, she goes back to the Doctor and has it plucked out, then undertakes a perilous journey to find Horton. (All For You) Oh, and somehow she has the time to FIND HIS CLOVER too. =] And finally he notices how amazing she is.

But I think what's so touching about her is that she's someone we all can relate to. We all sometimes feel like we're not beautiful or flashy or confident enough, and I don't think there's a single person that hasn't been in love with someone who just doesn't notice them, or see them that way.

And this show! OH MY GOD it's special. It will reach anyone who sees it - from a five year old girl to a ninety-five year old man... I am confident that this is the case.

I've had such a great time, even though it's been very demanding and stressful at times (John is at his wits end, to the point where it's really hard to work with him because he is so stressed that he yells and blows things out of proportion. I know that this isn't okay, but there's nothing I can do. It's hard because I look up to him and know he's such a great director and love him despite (or because of) his faults.) The cast is amazing. After months of hardly speaking to her because of school and all, I've finally grown really close to Chelsea (who I now guess I consider my best girl friend), and Alex Marcelo (one of the Hortons) and George (The Cat in the Hat) are now people I know I can turn to when I need them.

My Horton, Jim Sato, is such a great actor. He's been doing this for a long time so it's great to get to work opposite him. He doesn't really know all of his part (he's extremely stressed out with two roles to cover - He and Alex also play the Mayor) but he has two, three days to get it so I have my fingers crossed. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

I get to work with Tina again (she is the Amazing Mayzie) and I love it. She's my hero. =] And everyone else I haven't mentioned is great too.

So that's Seussical. If you're in the area, ask me for information. =]

Other than that? Not much. I am playing guitar quite a lot and have started writing songs. Alex is going to help me record soon, hopefully. I'm excited... this is something I really want to do. I want to start performing them if I can. Maybe by next year?

All right, I think I'm done for now. Hopefully there will be more soon.

you're always sleeping
and you don't wear shoes
you ski down mountains
do you sing the blues?

your hair's a mess
but you like it that way
and if you combed it
it wouldn't be today

I'm not just talking about your photographs
but you can capture a moment in a second - or three
you're at your best when there's a reason to laugh
you don't have to work hard for a hug from me

you can't find Grace
and you've had your lows
but a smile's on your face
and the whole world glows
yes it glows

*scat section*

and dear I'm not just talking about your photographs
but you can capture a moment in a second - or three
you're at your best when there's a reason to laugh
you don't have to work hard for a hug from me...

I threw a party. (OMG SIRI THREW A PARTY) Yes, a New Year's Party. It was amazing. I'm so proud of myself... normally I just sit at home on NYE and complain about my lack of a life, but this year I decided to take the initiative. It wasn't huge, I think the most we had was ten people, but small is better in my opinion. It was supposed to be a dance party, and we danced for part of the time but then we got out Apples to Apples (Miya kicked our butts with her cleverness) and played that until close to midnight, and then we toasted each other (sparkling cider only) and then we danced again. =]

I'm hoping that this year will be full of more events like this and others, where we can all just get together and enjoy each other's company. My father always told me that when I was a junior, my social life would pick up quite a bit as people gained more freedom (licenses!) and I guess I shouldn't have been so skeptical because I've felt it coming true over the last couple of months.

I'm not going to make any specific resolutions this year, I just hope to go out and do the things I've been wanting to do (get back into dance, and start more music lessons, among other things) and stop waiting around for life to take a hold of me. =]

(I got an ipod for christmas!!!)

OMFG. It's over. I don't even know what to say, except that this was my favorite of all seven. I was losing faith given the last two, but I think JK Rowling redeemed herself quite nicely. Amazingly, in fact.

(Don't read ahead if you haven't read it and then come yell at me for spoiling it. It's your fault if you click the cut. OBVIOUSLY. Go read it first and then come back..)
